The Columbia River Inter-Tribal Fish Commission (CRITFC) was organized in 1977 to manage Native American fishing resources along a 147-mile body of water formed by the construction of the Bonneville Dam, The Dalles Dam, the John Day Dam, and the McNary Dam on the Columbia River. This area is known for fishing purposes as Columbia River Zone Six, and no public commercial fishing is allowed.〔(【引用サイトリンク】 publisher = Columbia River Inter-Tribal Fish Commission )〕 Four Columbia River treaty tribes, the Nez Perce, the Confederated Tribes of Warm Springs, the Confederated Tribes of the Umatilla Indian Reservation, and the Confederated Tribes of the Yakama Indian Nation, created CRITFC when it appeared that Columbia River salmon would soon become extinct and native fishing rights would thereupon be extinguished. The tribes' legal authority to fish on the Columbia River was established in the 1855 Treaty. More recently, Title IV of Public Law 100-581 established "in-lieu-of sites" to replace historic fishing sites that were flooded upon construction of the Columbia River dams. CRITFC manages 31 fishing access sites available to members of the four tribes, and some facilities offer shared-use with public access.〔(【引用サイトリンク】 publisher = Columbia River Inter-Tribal Fish Commission )〕 Some of the sites include GNIS data as shown below. ==References==
